Linda Ann Hughes

6 de enero de 1947 - 9 de octubre de 2024

Linda Ann Hughes, the second of five children born to Jack and Evelyn Hughes, was born in Missoula on Jan. 6, 1947.

She attended St. Anthony’s elementary school and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1965. For her whole life she remained friends with many of the people she met in grade school and high school.

She loved summers at Flathead Lake with her family, and spending time with the Wagner family at Seeley Lake, and later with the Kolendich family at Swan Lake.

After graduating from the University of Montana, she lived and worked in Spokane, Washington, and Honolulu, Hawaii. She returned to Missoula and worked for many years at First National Bank, which later became First Interstate Bank, starting out as a teller, and retiring from the escrow department.

Linda was always extremely kind and generous. Friends and family members learned not to admire something of hers, knowing she would insist on giving it to them. She never hesitated to show love and support for others, and she adored her nieces and nephews. She always made them feel truly seen, never missing a chance to ask how they were doing and what was going on in their lives.

And as one of her nieces said, “I can still see her tossing a kiss in the air with a cheerful ‘Ciao!’ when she was saying goodbye.”

She spent her last three years in memory care at NorthCare Missoula, where she easily made new friends among residents and staff. Linda died on Oct. 9, 2024.

She is survived by her siblings, Dick (Pam) Hughes, Lisa (Ed) Kemmick and Bob (Leann Worden) Hughes, brother-in-law Bruce Danielson, nephews and nieces Jay Kippen, Leslee Senechal, Christin Danielson, Brennan Hughes, Jessie Kemmick Pintor, Kelly Danielson, Cory Danielson, Hayley Kemmick, Spencer Hughes, Parker Hughes, Pari Kemmick and Carson Hughes, as well as numerous grand-nephews and -nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Tina Danielson and nephew Ryan Senechal.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 14, at Pineview Park, near Missoula’s Rattlesnake Elementary School.
