He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Mohr (John), Vicki Renhard (Paul), Diane Sutton (Joe), Debbie Yummit. He has two daughters, Robin Duncan (Ronnie), and Sheri Boretsky (Bryan), and 1 granddaughter, Kashya Boretsky.
Born to a Swedish hard rock miner, the family moved to Butte in 1942, living in the Meterville, part of Butte. Allen worked from an early age as a bowling pinsetter through school. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps, in 1957, with his best friend Robert “Rowdy” Yates. He spent 7 years 8 months in places like Camp Pendelton and Okinawa Japan.
After returning to civilian life, he married Colleen Hadley in 1967 in Trego, Montana. Allen went on to have a successful career as a Union Tile setter moving from Montana to Oregon, California, and back to Montana where he and Colleen planted roots in Townsend where they purchased and operated a local drinking establishment, called the Corner Bar.
Allen and Colleen divorced in 1991 at which time Allen moved back to Oregon to continue his Union Tile trade. He retired in 1998, enjoying buying homes and fixing them, never letting the moss grow too long in one location. He moved from Oregon to Waits Lake Washington and then up to Kettle Falls. As usual, once his house to perfect to him, he sold and moved on to Big Fork, Montana, then to Stevensville and Hamilton Montana.
The last months of his life were spent living with his daughter Sheri (Bryan) in a custom cabin built to his specifications. To the end, he was surrounded by the friends and family he loved.
A memorial service and military honors will be on June 9th, 2PM, at the American Legion Hall in Stevensville, MT. 754 Middle Burnt Fork Road, Stevenville.
