Claudia McCracken

Claudia Jean McCracken, 78, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in Missoula, Montana. Her radiant smile, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.

Born on March 18, 1947, Claudia brought warmth and light into the world from the very beginning. She spent her life nurturing those around her with kindness and compassion that knew no bounds. Her love for children was evident in every interaction—whether with her own grandchildren or the many young lives she touched throughout her life.

Claudia shared a remarkable 60-year marriage with Dennis McCracken, a bond built on deep love and mutual respect. Together they raised two daughters: Denise McCracken and Annie Cathey (Randy), who carry forward their mother’s legacy of strength and grace.

Her pride and joy were her grandchildren—Brittany Stewart, Casey Stewart, Ryan Cathey, and Aaron Cathey—and great-grandchildren Brooke, Kylie, Lilly, Sadie, Chloe, Kennedy, and Cole. Claudia cherished every moment spent with them and delighted in watching them grow.

She is also survived by her brother Danny and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives she enriched with her presence.Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved parents Betty and Charley Leeper; brothers John and Charley; and sisters Linda and Elaine. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Professionally dedicated and hardworking, Claudia began at Bolishes neighborhood store before spending 22 years at Western Outfitters. Her work ethic was matched only by the warmth she brought to every customer interaction—always greeting others with that unforgettable smile.

A celebration of Claudia’s life will be held at a later date so that all who loved her may gather to honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
