James W McMurtrie

James William "Uncle Jim" McMurtrie, 77, of Missoula, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula, of advanced dementia. He was born May 9, 1939, in Missoula, to Ann M. Gunderson and Howard B. McMurtrie. He enjoyed working at the Opportunity Workshop, until he retired at 65. He also worked shredding paper at 4G's with his sister, Betty Hedger, who cared for him until she died in 2015. He had a good sense of humor and was a hard and tireless worker. He was a fan of music, particularly Elvis, and loved his family, going on trips, picnics, and fishing. He enjoyed working outside, a Coke, and a good hamburger. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He has been laid to rest in Missoula County Cemetery with his parents. Anyone wishing to honor him may make a donation to Opportunity Resources in his name.
