Jerry "Speedy" Edward Mauldin, Jr.
1956 - 2024
1956 - 2024
Jerry “Speedy” Edward Mauldin Jr left his physical form peacefully at his home is Missoula Montana at the age of 67 on Thursday 6/20/24 moving to his new home in heaven.
Jerry was born in 1956 in Waukegan Illinois. His mother Juanita and father Jerry Sr. (Ed) raised him with his older sister Teri and younger brother Michael in Zion Illinois. From the time he started walking Jerry’s parents noticed how quickly he would learn things giving him the nickname Speedy, the name his family and friends would call him for the rest of his life.
Speedy had many hobbies, interests, and skills. He enjoyed hunting with his father. Collecting/restoring guns and building weapons. He taught if you took care of something the right way it could last forever. He loved to watch movies (sci-fi, horror, action), listening and dancing to music, and watching wrestling. Looking at classic cars and trucks (50’s, 60’s 70’s). He enjoyed collectibles. Also weightlifting and exercising. Speedy made sure to enjoy life with even the simplest things. He was a proud American/Cherokee Indian and believed that there is something greater and we will all be together again.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Speedy retired from Concrete Laborers 152 in Lake County IL after over 40 years of hard work. He was a loving, honest, hardworking man that loved his family and friends. Speedy always did whatever was needed to keep our family going and exemplified what it is to be a Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
In 1986, a kind of magic happened when Speedy met Lori and all our lives would be changed forever. By 1991, they married and remain soulmates forever.
Speedy is survived by his loving wife Lori Mauldin, Children: Jay III (TJ), Joshua (Deanna), Dominick (Bekah), Melissa (Ben), Holly (Jim). Grandchildren: Taitum (Coulson), Taylor (Anthony), Payton (Jonatan), Kayla (Isaac), Madelyn, Tyler, Olivia, Houston, Rocksann, Zakarie, Luke. Great Grandchildren: Bellamy, Braelynn, Arwen, Roy.
He will be deeply missed by all that love him until we meet again. Yatahey “hello, goodbye, all is good” Speedy!!
