Joan Rody

Joan Rody, aged 87, of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. Born in England, Joan made her way to the United States in her 20s, settling in Seattle, Washington, with her first husband, Martin Dunne. After Martin’s passing in 1970, Joan found love again with Fred Rody, and together they made a home in the beautiful landscapes of Montana. Even after Fred’s passing in the 1990s, Joan remained in Missoula, a place she adored and chose to stay.

Despite being in a wheelchair in her later years, Joan lived an active life, particularly within her beloved church community at Blessed Trinity. She found joy in simple pleasures—an afternoon at the casino, tackling the Sunday crossword, and spending time with her dear friends and family.

Aunt Joan was known for her warmth, kindness, and unshakable spirit. Her love and generosity touched many, and her sense of humor and zest for life will be dearly missed. Though her earthly journey has ended, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held at Blessed Trinity Church, 1475 Easton Street, Missoula, on September 26 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s honor to her church or a charity of choice.
