Luther "Lu" Benjamin Kamrud
October 6th, 1950 - July 4th, 2024
October 6th, 1950 - July 4th, 2024
Luther (Lu) Benjamin Kamrud passed away peacefully at his home in Milltown, Montana, on July 4th, 2024. Born on October 6th, 1950, in Starbuck, Minnesota, to Julius and Nora Kamrud, Lu was deeply rooted in his Midwestern upbringing and carried those values throughout his life.
Lu graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1968 and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Fergus Falls Junior College. He then completed his bachelor’s degree at Bemidji State University. In 1974, Lu moved to Livingston, Montana, where he briefly worked for Burlington Northern Railroad. The following year, he relocated to Missoula, Montana, and began his long and dedicated career at the mill in Bonner, Montana, retiring in 2008.
On July 2nd, 1988, Lu married Terrie Jorgenson, and with their union, he lovingly embraced her two children, Belinda, and Chad, as his own. Family was at the center of Lu’s life, and he cherished his role as a husband, stepfather, and grandfather.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Lu. His Minnesota roots stayed with him, as he was an avid fan of the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, Lynx, Wild, and Gophers. He never missed a chance to check in on his alma mater’s hockey team. Yet, his greatest love was for the University of Montana Grizzlies, who he supported with unwavering enthusiasm.
Lu is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Terrie; his stepdaughter Belinda and her husband Chris Palmer; his stepson Chad Upky; his cherished grandchildren Alex, Silas, Onyxia Tobin, and Madison Palmer, mother-in-law-in-law Karen McArthur; his sister-in-law Sidney and her husband William Long; his brothers-in-law Darrel Jorgenson and Rod Chrisman; his brothers Chris, Norm, and Ted, along with their wives Dianne, Judy, and Deb Kamrud, respectively; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius, and Nora Kamrud; sister Angie Nelson; brother Julius (Bud) Kamrud; brother-in-law Bill Nelson; father-in-law Darrel Jorgenson Sr.; stepfather-in-law Vern McArthur; sister-in-law Carla Chrisman; and grandparents-in-law Clyde and Kay Fifield.
A celebration of Lu’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on September 30th, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bonner, Montana. A potluck reception will follow at the church. In honor of Lu’s love for sports, the family encourages attendees to wear one of his favorite team’s colors or represent their own favorite team. Please bring a dish to share in the fellowship of remembering and celebrating Lu.
Lu will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and devotion to family and friends, as well as for his passionate support of his teams and his community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

I will forever remember my wonderful neighbor and friend to the end of my own days of my life. I could not have had a better neighbor that Lu & Terrie Kamrud. We chatted across the fence regularly, But My first vision of Lu that will forever come to mind first will be of "Lu walking around his yard carrying a Walmart sack that he had filled full of Dandelion heads to prevent seeds...It did not matter what day of the week it was or the time of day you could bank on Lu scooting around on his rear end & knees picking Dandelion heads... LOL! We laughed about his fetish regularly." Oh! Lu did not care as long as he did not see a yellow bloom in his yard. Yet Lu, could look across to my yard that looked like a solid yellow blanket had been laid across my lawn or white bobbing heads ready to let their seed go flying... LOL! Lu never let anything bother him. He was so layed back and ready to jump in to help in a time of need regardless what the emergency was & if he was the only one around to help someone in need. He was right there with you never leaving you to suffer all alone. I have never had better neighbors than Lu & Terrie Kamrud. I will never find anyone better than them ever again. God knew what he was doing when he planted me as their neighbor. Little did they know they would wind up adopting me a full super size neighbor & her dog. Lu was very intelligent and could hold his own in any conversation. But you always saw Lu smiling. He was always happy anytime you saw him. I have been missing him so very much even though in his latter days it was talking over the phone checking on each other. Lu was one in one zillion... Rest In Peace my dear, dear friend Lu Kamrud. I will see you again one day when God calls me home as well.

Lu, you were an all around guy. Easy to get along with, funny, usually happy (good smile), loving family man. You are missed. Watch over your Grizzly team.
