I knew Jerry about 15 years ago when I was working as a Starbucks barista in downtown Missoula. Through our brief but vivid conversations it was clear to me how genuine and caring he was, and I loved seeing how he lit up when he would see or talk about "my Beverly." We had almost nothing in common but he was always so eager to chat and share a bit of his world with me, and made me feel so important and welcome, not like a teenager working an after school job. His bright and creative personality was so refreshing and he will be missed.

I met Jerry in 1967 when he was a freshman football player at Wake Forest University. I was a sophomore and I tutored his good friend, Win Headley, in Spanish. Jerry and I developed what might be called a "crush" on each other. We met for a couple of campus concerts, one by the Pozo Seco singers. Life (and studies) eventually got in the way and we went our separate ways. We re-connected several years ago on Facebook. I knew Jerry was special when I met him. I'm so happy that he was able to live his best life and found his soulmate in Bev. He sent me a copy of his book "The Place" and a manuscript of a new book. I will always remember Jerry, and will cherish his memory. Rest in peace my friend.

So sad to hear about Jerry's passing. We always loved to visit when you came to the Sidetrack... and miss you! I will hopefully join the zoom call / celebration of Jerry's life. Hope to some day reconnect with you, Beverly. Love, Liz and George
