Jack Joseph Richter June 18th, 1939 - July 18th, 2024
Jack was born in Glasgow, MT. to Jake and Cecilia Richter. Raised in Nashua, MT. The family later moved to Billings, MT. As a young man he joined the Army and traveled overseas. After the Military he returned to Billings where he began his career as an electronic technician.
In 1962 he met the love of his life, Elsa (Joie) Jorgenson. They were married shortly after and began their journey. In 1965 they moved to Missoula, MT. so he could pursue his career in the coin-op business, with 3 kids in tow. A year later they added 1 more child to their clan. They bought their home in 1966, where he still resided at the time of his passing.
He worked for many years at MT Music Rentals. Later going to work for Century Amusement's. He later became a partner in the company. Century Amusement's later sold and became Century Gaming. The crew he worked with became his 2nd family, working side by side with Tommy McLaughlin, whom he was very proud of. Shauna Kennedy, whom he was honored to have known.
In 1996 he unexpectedly lost the love of his life Joie. He never remarried; his heart was broken. His family and co-workers gave him the strength to go on.
In the 1970's they bought a trailer and put it up at Swan Lake, their happy place. Joie and the kids would spend summers up there and Jack would come up on weekends with supplies. When their first grandchild was born, they would travel to go see them and started to venture to other places. One of their favorite places was New Orleans.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father Jake and Cecilia Richter, mother and father in-law Peter and Edythe Jorgenson, his son David and his beloved wife Joie.
He leaves behind his 3 children, Paul Richter of Missoula, Kelly Anderson and spouse Mike of Florence, and John Richter and longtime friend Jody Hoggatt of Missoula. 6 grandchildren Christopher Richter and spouse Jen of Spokane, WA. Denise McClain and spouse Brian of Spokane, WA. Lucas Mesenko of Missoula, Zack Richter and spouse of Missoula, Alicia Anderson of Florence and Riley Hoggatt of Missoula. 5 great grandchildren Garret, Liam, Everly, Jack, Colin and his everyday companion, Dumb-Dumb, the deaf petite cat.
Jack will be missed by all that knew him. Rest assured he is at peace with his beloved wife. As per Jack's request, no services will take place. Cremation has taken place and his and Joie's ashes will be spread in a private ceremony at a later date. For all that knew him, next time you're at one of his many locations, have a totty and a toast to him. I am not here for a long time, just a good time. RIP Dad
