Arlyce Schliebe

Arlyce Schliebe passed into Heaven on April 12, 2023 at age 94. She was born Marian Arlyce Maunu on October 2, 1928. She grew up on a South Dakota farm, attending a 1-room schoolhouse before graduating from Frederick High School. She worked as a secretary before meeting her future husband Gerald (Jerry) Schliebe at a dance. They were married November 12, 1947 in Aberdeen and later moved to Missoula MT in 1956 where they became members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. They were married for 74 years before Jerry passed in 2022. The couple had 6 children together. She also enjoyed 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Arlyce was involved serving in several organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40, Orchard Homes Women’s club, Girl Scouts, PTA, and Christian Women’s club. She also worked for Lutheran Social Services and The Missoula Messenger newspaper. After retirement, she spent winters in Sun City, Arizona getting involved with the American Lutheran Church of Sun City, the Scandinavian Club, Recreation Club, and condo association there. Arlyce loved spending time with family, playing cards and games, and square dancing. She could also be found crocheting, working on embroidery, scrapbooks or word puzzles, reading or watching game shows. She made some friends at Beehive assisted living center before her passing. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Martha, brother Norman, sister Joyce Gunn, husband Jerry, grandson Scott Riggs, great grandson Matt Hurley, and several other relatives and friends. She is survived by sons Gary, Randall, Brian (Lynn) Schliebe, daughters Karyn (Ed) Farwell, Jolene (Tim) Shelton, Marla (Ivan) Crago, and her remaining grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives. The number of people to whom she was mom, mother-in-law, or grandmother was 67! She will be missed. A service in her honor will be scheduled at a later date.
