Recuerdos

Missoula, MT – Mary Lou Cordis, 84, died at her home in Missoula, on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024.

Mary was born on May 22nd, 1939, in Missoula, MT to Harold and Florence Collins. Mary worked at the University of Montana Law School where she made lifelong friends, retiring in 2001 after 31 years.

She was a Holy Spirit Episcopal Church Altar Guild member and served on the Missoula City Cemetery Board for 42 years. In recognition of her service, a Mary Lou Cordis Day proclamation was issued on April 30, 2021, and an engraved bench was placed at the Missoula City Cemetery in her honor.

Mary was a diehard UM Grizzly fan, especially football and basketball. She was a member of the Century Club volunteering money and time to raise funds for UM student-athlete scholarships. Some of her greatest joys and fondest memories were spending time with her grandchildren and fishing the creeks in western Montana.

Mary was preceded in death by her brother Frank and the father of her daughters, Leon Cordis. She is survived by daughters Lori Cordis, Beverly Maas (Darryl), Barbara Cordis-Lowe (Tom), and Bonnie Pace (Gordy), six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, you make donations to the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church Alter Guild. Donations can be mailed to 130 Sixth Street East, Missoula, MT 59801, or online at http://holyspiritmissoula.org/.

A graveside service will be held at the Missoula City Cemetery on Friday, June 21, 2024, at noon. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Imagine Nation Brewing, 1151 W Broadway St, Missoula, MT.

This lady was amazing. She was the mother of 4 wonderful daughters. My brother was married to her youngest and shares 2 wonderful grown sons. NANA Marylou as we all called her was the sweetest and most real human I have met. She loved my brother as a son and became a huge part of our lives. She will be missed and I am thankful to have called her family and to have loved her.
