Recuerdos

Stanley, also known to many as Junior, age 94, passed away on July 10, 2021, in Missoula, Montana. He was born May 31, 1927, in Towner, North Dakota to Stanley Bertsch Sr and Pearl Brandon Bertsch. His fondest memories were of the time he spent on his grandparents’ farm. Stan served in the US Navy from March 22, 1945, a few months before his 18th birthday, to April 2, 1948. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands and on the USS General J. C. Breckinridge. He was proud of his service and excited to go on the 2013 Honor Flight to Washington D. C. Stan was also proud of his long career as a truckdriver. He started driving tractors on the farm, moved on to heavy equipment and trucks. He bought his own truck several years before he retired. Stan loved fishing and the beautiful lakes around Missoula. He enjoyed his boats and camper, and his many friends who shared these activities with him. Stan was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clayton Bertsch. He is survived by daughters Victoria (Jacques) Chappell, Candyce (Randy) Richardson, and Kaleigh Grafft; Granddaughters Theresa Chappell, Allison Chappell, Andrea (Quanah) Richardson-Blaine, Sara (Alan) Duncan; Greatgrandchildren Ava Blaine, Alyssa and Liam Duncan; Nephew Blaine (Raksha) Bertsch; and Great niece Sacha Bertsch. Internment Service will be held at the Western MT State Veterans Cemetery, 1911 Tower Street, Missoula on September 10th at 1PM.
