Evonne Louise Dalton 6-30-54

On December 10, 2023 heaven gained another angel as Evonne Louise Dalton of Missoula’s Northside joined her soulmate Leonard Dalton, passing away peacefully and surrounded by family.

Evonne was born on June 30, 1954 in Rugby, ND.  She and Leonard met while both receiving kidney dialysis treatment at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA.  They were soon a couple, and Evonne became his wife and stepmother to his two children before being joined by two daughters.

She loved children and accomplished her dream of getting an Associates Degree in early childhood education and working at Head Start while raising her beloved children.  She enjoyed spending her time creating art to relax and give to family and friends, taking pictures and making memories.  She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and little dog Boo.

She is preceded in death by the husband she so dearly loved Leonard Dalton, parents Mardelle and Norman Knudson, Aunt Ann Goetz, and Uncle Stan Larkin.

She is survived by siblings Diane Nance and Kenneth Knudson. Her children, Brandi Dalton, Sherie Dalton, Carrie Dalton, and Lee Dalton.  Grand Children Macie Corona, Aliyah Dalton, Dainon Dalton, Nemaway Dalton, Jasmine Paxton, Gauge Dalton, Kent Russell, and Jason Dalton.  Great grand children Bailey Pierce, Alissa Dalton, Zoey Sasser, Amelia Dalton, and Cedric Dalton.  Many nieces, nephews and friends.

We miss you, Evonne.  And we love you.

The family will be planning a celebration of life this spring.

I was fortunate enough to grow up having both my grandparents close to me. I even lived with them at one point and became even closer. I was always spending time with them as a kid making the best memories. My grandmas form of love language was gift giving and I don’t mean out to the store I mean hand made cards and scrapbooks. I’m so grateful to have those things to be able to look back at those memories. I remember she and my cousins would decorate the table and set up tea party’s for me when I was little. My grandma always made me feel so special and loved. She made sure everyone else around her was okay before herself. She was the best listener when I needed to talk. she supported me in all of my crazy adventures and was so excited for me. I will always be grateful to her. you were the best grandma to me. I’m so thankful you aren’t in pain and you back with your love. I love you so much my sweet angel.

Evonne was a sweet kind and wonderful woman. She was so great with children. And treated everyone with kindness. Her beautiful face and smile will be forever in my heart. And she will be forever missed! She and Leonard raised quite an amazing crew. Your legacy will live on forever through your kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Love you all!!!!!

I think you were 9 or 10 years old when we first met... kind of funny, on Dalton Street. I remember playing games, building forts in the vacant lots, running away from the Noah boys and a photo I have of us, wearing those big wax teeth and holding a bunch of my newborn kittens. I will miss knowing you are here, and my heart aches for your family.
