Karla Kaighn

Mom peacefully passed away on 7/15/25.  

 

Karla was born on 11/21/1946 to Lee & Sadie Milward in Missoula, MT.  She joined her older sister, Sherry.  Her younger sister, Lori arrived years later.  

 

Karla married her childhood sweetheart, Larry Kerwald, but they later divorced.  

 

While it wasn't common in 1977, Karla adopted a baby girl as a single parent.  That was a special Thanksgiving because she was approved for her first home loan that same year.  

 

Karla then married Kenneth Kaighn, years later.  They were together from 1981 to 2018, when Ken passed.

 

Mom will always be remembered as a determined lady her whole life.  She was a fighter until her last day.  I loved my mom for giving me a great life.  I will always be grateful she adopted me.  

 

Mom was preceeded in death by her parents, older sister and husband, Kenneth.

Surviving are her younger sister Lori Horner (husband Mark), daughter Suzzette and her furry grandson, Simon.

 

 I would like to thank Partners in Home Care, Hospice folks, Brigette, Cassandra and Ryann who all cared for mom til the very end with such incredible compassion.  

 

Per Mom, there will be no services.  If you would like to donate in her memory, she had a big place in her heart for St Jude.
