Frank Joseph Gey IVAugust 13, 1967 – October 4, 2026Resided in Missoula, Montana

Frank Joseph Gey, IV, was born on August 13, 1967 and passed after a brief battle with esophageal cancer on October 4, 2026.

Anyone who knew Joe (aka Frank), knows that he absolutely shredded the guitar. He was a seriously talented musician and songwriter. Music wasn’t just something he did - it was a huge part of who he was. He had that rock-and-roll soul, and when he picked up a guitar, he tore it up. His friends called him a legend, and to those who knew him, he fucking was. He really loved playing guitar for people.

Joe was insanely funny, sarcastic, and always cracking a joke. Even in his final days in hospice, he was still making people (like his amazing nurse Daniella) laugh and giving everyone a hard time. That was Joe - he was going to be Joe right until the end.

He was fiercely protective of his family and his friends. If you were someone he loved, he had your back, no questions asked.

Joe was also one hell of a cook. He loved being creative with food and loved making people happy with something good to eat. But music was always where his passion really lived. His guitar, his songwriting, and the creativity that came through in everything he played. He also loved mountain biking, especially Rattlesnake Trail in Missoula.

Joe was deeply loved by his sisters, Errica and Stephanie, and their families. He is eternally loved and was preceded in death by his beloved mom, Peach (Arlene Wolfe), and his sister, Danielle (Dee).

To his many Montana friends, he was Frank - and he was passionately loved by Zoe Flink, Tina Setters, Tamara Jackson, along with the many others who were lucky enough to know him, laugh with him, listen to him play, sing with him, ride with him, and call him a friend.

Joe wrote great music and made good food, but more than anything, he made memories. He left his mark on the people who knew him, and he sure as hell won’t be forgotten.

Daniella

My friend. It was truly an honor to be your nurse. From the very beginning, your sarcasm and sass had me laughing—and I quickly realized you could dish it out just as well as I could. 😂 You gave me a hard time right up until the end, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Some patients leave a mark on you, and you were absolutely one of them. I’m grateful I got to know you, care for you, laugh with you, and be a small part of your journey. Rest easy. ❤️
