Thomas E. Fritz

MISSOULA ~Dr. Thomas Edward Fritz (aka ‘Fast Eddy’), departed to his heavenly home on August 14, 2022, at the age of 89, in his adopted hometown of Missoula, Montana. Tom will be remembered by his family and friends for his quick wit, sharp intellect (never one to shy away from a good debate), and always ready for a game of cards (with gentle reminders of what is trump). Tom met his true love, Lynette, at a campground during the Calgary Stampede in 1964. While it was love at first sight, a ski trip to Norway sealed the deal. Together, they had three children, Matthew, Carla (Stefanio Mizell), and Alex (Tiffany); of whom he was very proud, and three grandchildren Ellis, Wesley, and Louis, all of whom he hopes will someday take flying lessons, as he did. He supported his family in everything; hundreds of soccer games, ski trips, novice concerts, and eating adventures. A scientist through and through, his passion for understanding how everything worked (along with loons) bled into all aspects of his life, from the 30+ years of research performed at Argonne National Laboratory, to ensuring the 1979 Evinrude ski boat in Gordon, Wisconsin was always ready for the kids to enjoy a trip around the lake on skis or a tube. A good weekend was when his Michigan State Spartans won, and a great weekend was a loss for Michigan or Notre Dame. He supported the arts and loved listening to Big Band music, attending symphony concerts, or pumping the pedals on his player pianos. He will be thoroughly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held in Gordon, Wisconsin in May 2023.
