Yvonne Rosario Brady, 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.  Yvonne passed away a few months after receiving a terminal diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer.  Yvonne declined to seek treatment and placed her trust in the Lord.

Born in Missoula, MT on February 14, 1960. Yvonne was preceded in death by her father Bennet L. Brady, her mother Katherine T. Mangan, and her partner James Lamb.

Yvonne attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School. Later during a portion of her high school years, Yvonne lived with her parents and family in her father’s home state of New Mexico.  It was during this time that she grew close to her grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins who lived in her beloved Hondo Valley.  New Mexico became her second home.  Upon returning to Missoula in 1976, Yvonne completed her high school education graduating from Loyole Sacred Heart in 1977.

Yvonne worked as a ward secretary in the Saint Patrick’s Hospital Emergency Department and later at Community Hospital in their Lab Department. Yvonne then, while raising her son Shawn, enrolled at the University of Montana in Missoula where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1995.

A resident of Lake County for 26 years Yvonne was residing in Arlee, MT at the time of her passing.  Yvonne assisted in establishing Working Innovations, Inc. in May 1998 in Polson, MT eventually becoming the supervisor of the office.  Yvonne strived to best serve the TANF clients of Lake, Mineral, and Sanders Counties.  She was a natural social worker with true empathy.  She Loved working with her TANF clients helping with their barriers, and then really enjoyed watching them succeed.  She was a fierce advocate for the TANF program and her clients.  Yvonne was like the counselor, advisor, and good friend to each of her colleagues.  She cared about each of her colleagues and was proud of their accomplishments.  They were all her “work family.”  She told her colleagues that her son Shawn was her greatest accomplishment in life. In her 26+ years as a social worker, she helped hundreds of clients.  Yvonne created friendships with so many people across Montana over the years. Her colleagues believed no one could fill Yvonne’s shoes and all her staff felt the void in the office since she passed.  Yvonne retired in February 2024 shortly after receiving her diagnosis.

Yvonne is survived by her son Shawn (Michelle), sisters Becky Konye (Andy) and Kathleen Brady, her brothers Mark (Bobbi) and Randy (Le’Dena).  Nieces Kacy Hankins (Rob) and Emma Brady.  Nephews Jason Konye (Anna), Justin Konye (Lindsey) and Gavin Brady. Cousin Phillip (Anita).  Numerous other close cousins in Montana, New Mexico, California, and Oklahoma will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Yvonne’s Life will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1 pm at The Reno Lounge, 3650 Hwy 200 E., in East Missoula.

I know you are up there with, grandma and Jim, seeing what is going on with us. I have no doubt with big smiles on your faces. Cracking jokes about the silly things you may be seeing. I believe you would be proud! Especially of Shawn. He does miss you dearly, and the chances he always took to bounce everything that was going on in life off of you. But he has been strong, empathetic and resilient! Just the way you raised him. Even though I wish Kylan and you had more time I know that you..... and grandma will still have a huge part in his upbringing. He will no doubt know your faces, stories, personalities and love for him. Send him some trinkets, buried in the ground, to find in the dirt he will no doubt be playing in! As conversation starters and mementos to keep you all close. None of us could ever in 1000000 fathom what was going on in that brilliant mind of yours those last few months, and can't believe how unfair and tough it must have felt to go from "Happy go Lucky" one morning to being told you had only months left on this plain. I'm sorry you ever had to experience that agony of hearing those words. Rest assured that we got each other down hear and anything anyone needs will be taken care of as a family! BTW... we have been seeing lots of new faces every week at breakfast. I'm sure that makes all of your smiles even wider ;^) We all hold a lot of love for you, and everyone up there. We will always spread your smiles and stories. Although it is hard, and we will always miss you... We know that when we miss you the most you will find a way of letting us know that you are still there and that you're doing just fin Lot's of Love to you, Grandma, Aunt Mary, Jim, Richard and all of the others Rest easy and stay happy. Love you all mucho

My deepest sympathy to the Brady family and the Working Innovations staff. Working with Yvonne for 12 years from the Sanders County Working Innovations office she always gave me unlimited challenges and showed determination to complete whatever tasks we would face. After my retirement in 2010 I saw her only occasionally and had no idea that she had faced such a grave illness so bravely. May she rest in peace. Teri Johnsen
