Gail Nielsen Hay
November 8th, 1940 - April 8th, 2023
November 8th, 1940 - April 8th, 2023
Gail Nielsen Hay. Gail Hay passed away this spring, in peace, with the window open slightly, and birds singing outside, surrounded in love. She was born in a midwest town and moved west to raise her family and build a hearty life. She filled many two and four legged friends with warmth, adventure, and food. She is survived by her three siblings and their families, and two children and grandchildren. She did not want a memorial service. So celebrate her in your garden, in the mountains, with your critters, and skiing in the snow. She left this poem for us in multiple places: “Immortality”, most likely written by Clare Harner, with the last line modified. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sun light on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the sweet uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. Breathe in the mountains and take in the sky

Gail: As you know, I am not one who cherishes the vast majority of the human race, but you were one that I did cherish. Your love of horses perhaps more than equaled your love of the human race and I can understand why. I will miss you more than I can know. Love, Jim
