February 19th, 1945 - February 24th, 2024
Pamela Frances Tracy (Klontz) passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024 atmemory care in Missoula, MT.
Pamela was born on February 19, 1945 in Plymouth, England to William and Barbara Klontz. In the spring of 1946, Pamela and her mom traveled to the United States on a bride ship. The long journey took them across the Atlantic, then across the country by train, finally reuniting the family together at Fort Lewis in Seattle. Growing up in a military family, Pamela got the chance to live in many different places. After moving all over the US and several different countries, she finished her last two years of high school in Renton, Washington and graduated in 1963. Pamela worked in Seattle at AT&T as a telephone operator. She met John A. Murray, who was stationed in Tacoma with the army. When he left the army and moved back home to NYC, she transferred there with AT&T. Shortly after, she started working at Radio Liberty in Manhattan. She really enjoyed her work there, and found it to be fulfilling.
In 1969, Pamela married John in Brooklyn, New York. They had four children in 12 years of marriage. On a vacation to Montana in 1981, Pamela was captivated by the Treasure State, and decided to stay here with the children, resulting in a divorce. Pamela made Livingston, MT home for her and the kids. She worked at the Police Department as a dispatcher. It was there she met James W. Tracy. They married in 1991. His job moved them to Havre, MT. Upon retirement they moved back to Livingston to enjoy small town life. Pamela loved to make all kinds of crafts. She also loved gardening and turned her backyard into a perennial English garden. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents William and Barbara Klontz, husband James Tracy, ex husband John Murray, and brother in law John Stillman. She is survived by her children Pam Murray (Jaime) of Lincoln City, OR, Claire Jasperson (Joel) of Missoula, MT, Mary Murray (Alex) of Missoula, MT and John Murray (Lisa) of Billings, MT, grandchildren Aidan Courtney, Alex Jasperson, Ethan, Tyler and Paige Murray, sister Diane Stillman of Bozeman, MT and nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St Francis Xavier Church, Missoula MT on May 14th at 10:30am followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating time and talents to your community.
