John Allen Anderson

John Allen Anderson, 70, of Missoula, Montana, passed away on January 22, 2025.  He was born August 6,1954 in Great Falls, Mt., the fourth child of Gene and Zetta Anderson.  The family lived on their farm 17 miles south of Joplin, Mt., for several years before moving into town.  John attended school at Joplin Public Schools graduating in 1973.  In high school, John participated in football and played guard position.  He was also very involved in Boy Scouts, becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow with his father. 

Upon graduation, John enrolled in Northern Montana College in Havre studying welding.  While there he worked at A&W Drive In where his passion for cooking began.  John traveled across the country for many years before coming back to Montana and settled in Missoula. 

In his travels, John obtained a strong faith and belief in God.  He was a member of the Florence-Carlton Community Church serving on their ministry councils and traveled to various state and national Christian conferences.  He was a driver for the Meals on Wheels program which he greatly enjoyed. 

John was a kind, generous person, with a strong love for helping others.  He will be greatly missed by all.  John is survived by his brothers, Joe (Noreen) of Missoula, Gary (Lynette) of Tacna, Az;, sister Marg of Great Falls; nephew Travis of Missoula; nieces Kari of Bozeman, Erica of Erie, Pa., and Carol (Brad) Beniger of Missoula; Great Nephew Gannon Beniger and Great Niece Davis Anderson both of Missoula; Uncle Larry (Carolyn) Anderson of Evan, Co., as well as many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Donald, grandparents, uncles and aunts. 

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Florence-Carlton Community Church in Florence at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21st, 2025.  Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday April 19th,2025 at the Joplin Cemetery in Joplin, Mt. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Missoula Aging Services Meals on Wheels, the Florence-Carlton Community Church, or the American Heart Association.
